1. Screen-Printed Silver Conductive Shielding

Conductive silver ink is screen printed onto flexible substrate in three available patterns: full solid coating, continuous bus-bar layout or grid mesh pattern. The grid structure is our most widely selected solution. It balances stable shielding performance and material cost, consuming far less conductive silver ink than full-area coating. This printed shielding layer can be seamlessly integrated into existing printed flexible circuits (silver ink circuits or copper flex FPC) without drastically increasing overall panel thickness. Best suited for household appliance control keypads, access control numeric membrane keypads, weighing equipment HMIs and cost-sensitive consumer electronics.

2. Laminated Aluminum Foil Shielding

Composite material constructed from aluminum foil bonded to polyester substrate. The laminated foil delivers excellent electromagnetic shielding capability at an economical price point. This structure is simple for mass production and easy to integrate into standard multi-layer membrane switch stacks. Ideal for general industrial control equipment and indoor electronic terminals requiring basic EMI suppression.

3. Transparent Conductive Shielding Film

Specifically designed for membrane switches with LCD windows, LED indicator areas and dead-front backlit panels. Ordinary opaque shielding materials would block light transmission, while transparent shielding film maintains light permeability for display zones. This premium solution meets shielding requirements over visual windows, recommended for high-end backlit capacitive touch panels and instrument control interfaces. Note this option carries a higher material cost compared with foil and printed silver shielding.

4. Die-Cut EMI Shielding Mesh

Custom EMI mesh is precisely die-cut to match the exact outline of your membrane keypad. The mesh layer is embedded internally within the multi-layer stack-up of the membrane switch assembly. It offers consistent, high-grade shielding performance and stable structural durability for long-term continuous operation. Preferred for automotive modules, medical instruments and high-precision industrial machinery exposed to severe electromagnetic environments.

Three Reliable Shield Grounding / Termination Methods

Shielding performance heavily relies on proper grounding. TUOYUE supports three termination techniques for flexible integration with your device housing and main PCB:

1.Ground Tab Termination (Most Recommended) An extended conductive tab is reserved from the shielding layer. The tab can be fastened to mounting studs, standoffs or metal rear enclosures. This method delivers outstanding long-term grounding stability and is our first recommendation for most projects.
2.Connector Pin Termination The shielding layer is routed and terminated to dedicated pins on the FFC/FPC tail connector. No extra mechanical grounding parts are required, simplifying assembly workflows on your production line.
3.Wrap-Around Full Perimeter Grounding The shielding material wraps fully around all four edges of the membrane switch for complete 360° shielding and chassis contact. Although it achieves maximum interference suppression, extra materials and manual processing increase overall project cost. We suggest this solution only for ultra-high-spec industrial and medical equipment.
